Remember, this is organically raised, chemical & antibiotic free pork raised on pasture and a freshly milled, high quality, corn & soy free feed! This is the best of the best, and the product shows it. It does not compare to store bought pork or even pork raised on corn & soy bean feeds.
Corn-free, soy-free, pasture-raised pork is higher quality, has a more diverse and nutrient-rich diet. Pastured pork can have twice the amount of Vitamin E and three times the amount of Vitamin D than conventionally raised pork. These vitamins are essential for your heart, skin hormones and brain health; as well as reducing inflammation and supporting your immune system. They also have more beneficial fatty acids (like omega-3s), and less saturated fat due to the pigs' ability to forage on a variety of natural foods while having more active lifestyles on pasture; this translates to a healthier meat product for consumers. Corn and soy in the diet can also lead to obesity and metabolic syndrome due to their high calorie content and insulin resistance.
Fun Facts:
- Black Beauty hogs are a cross between Meishan and Old Line Berkshire pigs, and are generally considered a breed of their own.
- Black Beauty hogs are the result of a breeding program to create a pig with dark meat a better quality fat ratio than other breeds.
Our pigs are pasture raised and corn free, soy free grain fed. Our sows are only in pens when it's time for farrowing and returned to pasture as soon as piglets are weened for their well being. All piglets that we raise our for production purposes are moved to pasture once they have been introduced to electric fencing.
Our pigs are all raised and cared for with the best of intentions and a desire to give them the best life possible. We do not believe in CAFO's, or the inability to know where our meat is actually coming from or what it was being fed. We want to help others get out of that cycle as well.
We have set our farm up to be able to offer individual USDA cuts or whole hogs ready for processing. Our main focus is pork production so our availablility of piglets is very limited. We will gladly refer you to another local family farm that raises for piglet purposes solely. They have been our mentor farm since the beginning of our current farm.
