Welcome Friends! We have some news.
We are stepping away from the market gardening for profit world. While we love the Farmer's Market and will ALWAYS encourage you to shop there first, we feel like we have some amazing farmers doing a great job in that area already! For us, we have had many recent conversations where I have learned that it's not that our friends and neighbors don't want to support us; it's that they can't afford to ~or~ they are also trying to grow their own food and really just need help and a community to reach out to for advice and support and encouragement. So after a lot of prayer and some heartfelt conversations we have decided that we can better serve as educators and an outreach ministry.
So what can you expect from us now?
We are currently working on our on farm class schedules that we will announce in a few weeks. These will be opportunities for you to come and learn with hands on experience, hear from guest speakers/professionals, meet other local homesteaders and join us for on farm fellowship events.
We are going to be posting more regular content that not only educates, but also we pray encourages each of you and all who come along later to keep growing. This life isn't easy, there a hundred and one different things that can go wrong at any given time and we are often at the mercy of weather and finances. We want to share our journey in a glass house style, showing the things that are working AND the things that are failing, take you along for the planning processes and then again for the adjusting processes, because we all know things never go as planned the first time.
We are selling out of our pork operation for the time being. Things are taking a brief intermission and redirect while I get my bearings on what the new farm is going to look like. Which at the moment looks more like a homestead run by a creative.
Once we have all of the new gardens established we will offer some produce in our farm stand as we have an abundance available. This will be on an as available basis because quite honestly, putting the pressure of selling for market took the joy of the garden away from me, and I just wasn't ok with that. The garden is my space where I worship Abba, the space where I pray and where I find sanctuary. I never want that space to become a job.
There are a few other things we have planned that we will announce as plans become more established. But for now, we want to thank each of you for being here and supporting this small business of ours, even if you've never spent a single dollar with us. Just by having you interact with us on social media, follow our YouTube channel and share our information with your friends is a huge blessing to us.
For now, we are honing in on what our farm is going to become, finishing major infrastructure so we have the spaces to hold classes in a comfortable environment and fine tuning our plans for the next five years. We are working on rebranding the website and setting up regular email newsletter schedules (don't worry, we won't be spamming you, I don't have time for that).
Lastly, we pray blessings over you and look forward to sharing this journey with you!
May the soil be fertile, the harvest be bountiful, and the farmer never grow weary.~Farmer Mandy
